This broad, exuberant, comedy-farce, created by a professor and his students, is not only delighting other colleges but, when invited to open the American College Theatre Festival in Washington, D.C., it brought raves from the professional critics as well. “Life, vital and original, came last night to Ford’s Theatre,” wrote the Washington Post critic, who goes on to describe the show. “We discover a square in old Bologna peopled by types that could have strayed in from The Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet, or Volpone.” The play is done in true commedia dell’arte fashion with stylized costumes and masks and is packed with belly laughs and high humor.
